HUBUNGAN ANTARA KESEPIAN DAN KECENDERUNGAN PADA PENGGUNA JEJARING SOSIAL MEDIA INSTAGRAM MAHASISWA

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between loneliness and narcissistic tendencies of student Instagram users. Because researchers often meet female students who often vent on their social media in Instagram stories. The population in the study were new students, totaling 6188 people. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. Furthermore, the questionnaire was distributed from October 8 to October 14 and obtained 54 respondents. The subjects in this research were new college students, aged 17-20 years, had active Instagram accounts, on average active 1-1.5 hours per day using a quantitative approach. The results of the research show that there is no relationship between loneliness and low narcissistic tendencies when using Instagram social media and there may be other factors that strengthen narcissistic tendencies more than the loneliness factor of Instagram social media users.
