Abstract

This article is motivated by the fact that there are still many counselors who provide information or personal problems of clients to third parties without permission, so this causes a lack or loss of clients' trust in the counselor. The principle of confidentiality is a principle that counselors should uphold. The principle of confidentiality in counseling means that personal information and everything shared by the counselee during the counseling process must be kept confidential and must not be shared without the counselee's permission, except in certain situations regulated by law (for example, if there is a serious threat to the counselee or others ). The purpose of writing this article is to provide counselors with an understanding of the importance of the principle of confidentiality in counseling practice and its impact on the relationship between the counselor and the counselee, to remind counselors of their professional responsibility to comply with the code of ethics, especially in maintaining the confidentiality of the counselee's information, and to restore and maintain the counselee's trust in counselor profession by demonstrating the importance of integrity and ethics in counseling practice. The principle of confidentiality in counseling guidance (BK) is a principle that requires counselors to maintain the confidentiality of counselees' data and information. This principle aims to protect the client's privacy and trust, as well as maintain the client's sense of security from the bad views of other people. Therefore, it is hoped that this article can be material for reflection for counselors to increase their professionalism in upholding the principle of confidentiality, so as to create a safe and trustworthy counseling environment for clients.
