Abstract

A balanced and quality life is a universal aspiration, attainable through the integration of physical and spiritual health. Many individuals, however, face psychological issues such as anxiety, stress, and depression, often stemming from intense competition, individualism, and materialism. Despite achieving material success, many struggle to find tranquility. Mental tranquility is defined as a state of peace and emotional stability, allowing individuals to manage stress without being overly influenced by anxiety. The practice of prayer, as a crucial form of worship, aims to foster closeness to God and is believed to provide inner peace and strengthen faith. This study explores how prayer can assist students in managing stress and attaining a calmer mental state. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing a survey distributed to students from the 2024 cohort of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Lambung Mangkurat University. Data analysis identified a significant positive correlation between prayer practices and mental health outcomes. Students who regularly engage in prayer tend to exhibit better mental health. The discussion highlights that respondents' perceptions regarding the benefits of prayer suggest that individual belief can enhance its positive impacts. These findings support the hypothesis that prayer practices positively influence mental tranquility and serve as an effective spiritual coping strategy for managing academic and emotional pressures.
