Abstract

This study aims to examine the parenting education approach within families with backgrounds in Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah (NuMu) in Indonesia. Parenting styles in NuMu families are influenced by Islamic values promoted by each organization. NU tends to emphasize education rooted in local traditions and culture, while Muhammadiyah prioritizes a rational and modern approach. Despite differences in parenting methods, families from NU and Muhammadiyah backgrounds are able to maintain harmony and respect their distinct parenting styles. Children in NuMu families are introduced to religious values from an early age, shaping them into pious, intelligent, and noble individuals. Furthermore, through discussions and social interactions, their perspectives are broadened, helping them to become more tolerant and appreciative of diversity. This study reveals that collaboration and inclusivity in parenting education based on Islamic values in Indonesia can foster a generation that is adaptive, broad-minded, and prepared to face complex social challenges.
