Abstract

The biographical film “Buya Hamka Vol. 1” is a story that narrates the life journey of Buya Haji Abdul Karim Amrullah, also known as Buya Hamka, ulama, writer, and important figure in the development of literary and Islamic history in Indonesia. The purpose of the research on this film is to get to know the figure of Buya Hamka through his diligence, leadership, religiosity, political struggle, morality, ethics, and other exemplary attitudes that are considered worthy of emulation for youth generation. The research method was conducted qualitatively narratively with a psychoanalytic approach. Our research results indicate that this film attempts to convey a moral message about the importance of pursuing education. The perseverance shown is expected to inspire young people and encourage them apply it in their daily lives when facing challenges.
